Overview
Deactivating licenses is sometimes needed for the following:
- You want to use free licenses to transfer/activate the license to your other sites.
- You want to deactivate licenses temporarily for troubleshooting purposes.
- You want to deactivate the license as part of the license reset process.
Can I deactivate licenses inside my WordPress admin?
Of course! Whether using a multisite or a single site, you can easily manage licenses (activation and deactivation) via the Freemius account page from your WordPress admin. You can access this page via Prime Mover PRO -> Account.
Note: You can only deactivate a license from within your WordPress admin if you have already activated it. If you cannot remember activating the license in any of your sites before – you need to deactivate the license from inside your Freemius account.
In multisite – this is how it looks:

- Click “Deactivate license” to turn off the license for that site.
- [if multisite] To transfer the license to another subsite, click the “Activate PRO” button on the site where you need to activate the license.
- [if single-site] To transfer the license to a single-site, activate the license directly under Prime Mover PRO -> Account.
In a single site, this is how it looks:

To deactivate the license in a single site (from inside your WordPress admin) – simply click that “Decativate license” link.
Deactivate licenses in all sites in one click
In this method, you can deactivate licenses in all sites in just one click; this is useful if you want to reset the license usage:
- Log in to your Freemius account.
- Go to the “Licenses” tab.
- Click the red “Deactivate” link. It looks like this:

- It will ask for confirmation – so click “Yes, deactivate license” to proceed.
- This will deactivate the license on all sites. For example, the account in the above screenshot uses a 4-site license. After license deactivation, the “ACTIVATIONS” column will become “0 out of 4.” This means there are no more active sites using the license key.
Deactivate the license on just one site
Sometimes, you only want to deactivate the license on one site. You can also do this via WordPress admin. This is useful if the license key is activated on many sites and you only want to use the license for free for one site.
Just in case you don’t have access to your site but have access to your Freemius account:
- Log in to your Freemius account.
- Click the “Websites” tab.
- It will list all sites registered with Freemius. NOTE: The site with an active license has a license key value in the “LICENSE” column, and it will be labeled “Pro” under the “PLAN” column.
- Supposing you want to deactivate the license in one site only (e.g.
grizzlybear.azz
in the screenshot below). - Click the site row, and the detailed site info will expand on the right:

- On the expanded site, detailed info. Click the “Deactivate” red link, which will deactivate the license for that site.

- After this deactivation, you will be free of one usage in your license quota. For example, if your current license activation is 3 out of 4, it will become 2 out of 4. You can then reuse or activate this usage on your other site.
Transfer and move the license
Now that you have deactivated the license in your source site, you can transfer and move that license to another site of your choice. It could be another single-site or any subsite in your multisite (or even main site).
To do this, please follow these steps to activate the license for your target site.
